Older Persons Services

We are based in a community that has a population that is older than the regional and national averages. We provide services to older and vulnerable people in our community that facilitate them in living in their own homes in safety, dignity and comfort. These services are:

  • Our Meals on Wheels service, delivering hot meals from Monday to Friday to local elderly and vulnerable residents
  • Our Befriending service offers older and vulnerable people living alone the chance to have someone check in with them for a quick chat to see how they’re doing and if they need further support with essential shopping or other day-to-day needs.

To enquire about accessing these services for you or a family member, please contact Ann O’Mara at 061-415340 or email aomara@taithouse.ie

Seniors Alert Scheme

The Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS) has been established to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communities. It provides funding for a personal monitored alarm, connected to a contact centre to enable older persons of 65 or older and of limited means, to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.

  • The Scheme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development via Pobal with equipment made available through community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations registered with Pobal under the SAS.

To find out more about the scheme you can contact Niall on 061-415340 or email ndeegan@taithouse.ie
